Day of Stargard Pioneers

The Day of Stargard Pioneers was established in 2017 as a local holiday. Its purpose is to honor and commemorate the first Polish inhabitants who, starting in 1945, created a new chapter in the history of this one of the oldest cities in Pomerania. It is celebrated on May 12th. This date refers to the fact that it marks the moment when the entire former Starogród (Stargard) was placed under Polish administration by the City Management.
The Archaeological and Historical Museum is the main organizer and coordinator of this event. MAH is responsible for the historical part of the celebrations. Every year, we prepare an open-air exhibition in Bolesław Chrobry Park dedicated to the theme of post-war Polish Stargard. In addition, we organize mini exhibitions, city games, competitions, and educational activities. It is also worth mentioning that in the Old Town Market Square, near the main building of the Museum, next to the multimedia bench of a railwayman, stands a sculpture commemorating the representatives of this profession, who were among the first to arrive in our city, unveiled during the first Day of Stargard Pioneers.
