Open-air exhibitions
Bolesław Chrobry Park
A positive effect of open-air exhibitions placed in urban spaces is their unlimited accessibility to a wide audience. The main venue for these exhibitions, organized by the Stargard museum curators, is the exhibition system installed in Bolesław Chrobry Park. One section of the exhibits is dedicated to one of the Stargard episodes from the Thirty Years' War. A temporary exhibition system has been set up next to the park's playground. These exhibitions most often relate to the history of the city and its inhabitants throughout the centuries. Among them are anniversary, occasional exhibitions, or those that are part of events such as the European Heritage Days. Since 2017, exhibitions on post-war themes have been presented regularly as part of the celebrations of Stargard Pioneers' Day.
Around Duke John Frederick’s Table
Opening event: July 3, 2025, at 5:00 PM on the Old Town Market Square
This open-air exhibition tells the remarkable story of one of the most intriguing Renaissance monuments in Pomerania: a ten-sided hunting table from 1598, associated with Duke John Frederick of Szczecin and his distinguished guest – Elector John George of Brandenburg.
At the heart of the display is a limestone table, which – according to historical accounts – was erected on the very spot where the elector is said to have hunted a magnificent stag. The artifact survived wars, the changing fate of the ducal residence, and the passage of time. It was rediscovered in 2020 in the garden of the former Friedrichswalde forest district (now Sowno-Podlesie) by Marek Szubert and transferred to the collection of the Museum of Archaeology and History in Stargard. The table was restored by Lidia Piotrowska-Cześnik, who carefully brought it back to its former glory and ensured its preservation for future generations.
The exhibition not only presents the table itself, but also explores its broader historical and cultural context. Visitors will learn more about the hunting residence of Friedrichswalde, built in 1583 by Duke John Frederick – a place of grand hunts, diplomatic gatherings, and Renaissance splendor.
The concept for the exhibition was developed by Marcin Majewski and Monika Ogiewa-Sejnota.
Opening event: July 3, 2025, at 5:00 PM on the Old Town Market Square in Stargard. The exhibition will remain on display throughout the summer of 2025.
Wystawa będzie dostępna przez całe lato 2025 roku.
