Collections of the Archive of the Memory of Witnesses and Testimonies of History

The "Archive of the Memory of Witnesses and Testimonies of History" project, initiated by Jolanta Aniszewska, has been carried out by the MAH since 2009. It focuses on individuals and events related to Stargard and the Stargard region, primarily during the 20th century. Topics include World War II, post-war settlement, and the city's history during the PRL era. Materials related to the city before 1945 are also included.

The Archive of Memory collects various materials, such as surveys, memoirs, copies of press clippings, photographs, documents, etc. One method of gathering memories is through interviews conducted with witnesses of history and their family members.

The materials added to the archive come from two main sources. On one hand, they are obtained through the efforts of museum curators, and on the other hand, thanks to the activity of descendants of the oldest residents of Stargard or those who were once connected to the region through various events and experiences.

It is worth mentioning that in 2011, based on the materials collected in the Archive, the Museum published a book titled Memories Written by Hunger… Accounts of Members of the Siberian Exiles Association in Stargard, Deported to the USSR during World War II, edited by Jolanta Aniszewska. The publication is based on the testimonies of the Siberian exiles.
