Heritage Documentation Department

Heritage Documentation Department

The Department of Heritage Documentation collects photographic and technical documentation of immovable and movable monuments from the area of Stargard and the Stargard County. The documentation is obtained through inquiries in archives, museums, and other institutions in Poland and abroad, as well as from private individuals.

Department staff participate in scientific research and conferences, organize exhibitions, publish scientific and popular science publications and articles, and also give lectures and presentations. The Department conducts research, provides information to private individuals and institutions about the historical buildings of the city and county, and makes its collections available for exhibition and scientific purposes. Staff also develop projects and application proposals to obtain external funding for the Museum’s activities.

Under agreements with the City of Stargard Municipality dated November 19, 2019, and July 8, 2021 (with an annex from January 13, 2022), the Department carries out tasks related to the protection of monuments and care for places of remembrance. This includes the verification and updating of the Municipal Register of Monuments of the City of Stargard, as well as managing the city's fortifications recognized as a Monument of History by the President of Poland and the reconciliation cross.
