Weapons and Equipment of Soldiers from Past Wars
Museum at the Old Town Market
Duration: October 2024 – March 2025
In two exhibition halls of the MAH building in Stargard, located at 3 Old Town Market, over eighty artifacts have been gathered, representing selected weapons and equipment of soldiers from the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries.
The exhibition features items from the collections of the Historical Chamber at the Municipal Cultural Center in Pełczyce, the Archaeological and Historical Museum in Stargard, the Stargard Radio Club, as well as private collections. Many of the exhibits on display are linked to fascinating stories intertwined with past wars and conflicts, human destinies, and the artifacts themselves – their discovery, restoration, and inclusion in the collections of the mentioned institutions.
Among the oldest exhibits are spontoons and a war scythe from the 18th century. The exhibition presents a wide range of military headgear from the 19th and 20th centuries. Edged weapons include bayonets, sabers, cutlasses, and broadswords (19th–20th century). The collection of firearms features, among others, the MG34, PPSh-41 "Pepesha," Mauser M98k, and Lee-Enfield M1907.
